I thought James Brown (and CBS as an entity - with the exception of Deion Sanders) did a nice job of their pre-game coverage.

Brown's monologue was heartfelt and well-said.

I'm actually surprised no one has blasted Bisciotti yet for his comments in his interview with Brown. I can't quote it, but he basically said, he's embarrassed about the way the Ravens handled this, but - if this turns out to be a seminal moment in the way Americans view and handle domestic violence - he'll be proud of it. WTF? Seriously?

It was just another example of how tone deaf all of these meatheads are when it comes to women and domestic violence. He'll be "proud" of it??

"Great job, Ray! Way to knock your fiancee on her ass and knock some sense into the American public! Fuck yeah, bro!" What a dope.

He built a bronze statue to Ray Lewis. Not someone who's in touch with real people.

he's in touch with his customers. Baltimore loves Lewis and Rice. If Hitler was from Baltimore they'd make excuses for him. If Rice played for Pittsburgh they'd demand the Steelers be banned from the league

How long until CBS apologizes for Simms saying Rice was "beat up" last season?

What the fuck is the purpose of this story? Look at these idiots, who happen to also be domestic violence survivors, supporting Ray Rice?

    Bill Simmons:

He should have just never done any interviews on the subject, right Bill?

"It’s official: Roger Goodell is the worst sports commissioner of my lifetime."

Oh, well, if he's the worst commissioner in Simmons' lifetime ... .

But he starts the piece by validating the gambling aspect of it all. Oh, wait, he doesn't care about that part. But he wrote it. Because he does.

There was zero emotion in that piece.

Have other owners put out dumb statements like this? I imagine the commissioner/league is desperately seeking them:

Fay Vincent was many times smarter than this bozo.
One of the big reasons he was deposed.
Bill was too busy watching 90210.

One of the questions/criticisms out there seems to be that Rice didn't do anything differently than anybody else to deserve a greater punishment - he was just unfortunate to be caught on video.

I know that's part of it. But to me one huge part of it has always been that he knocked her unconscious. People have a visceral reaction to that which they may not have to even a black eye or broken bone.

    Thoughts from the gallery?

Fay Vincent wasn't fired because he was dumb. Fay Vincent was fired because he was a threat to the status quo.
