That was a shitshow. Complete debacle.

He doesn't have it in him to do better than that.

Pete Rozelle would have stood tall and answered questions and shown vulnerability and you probably would have felt bad for him. Not that it ever would have gotten to this when Rozelle was there.

They still don't get it. Announcing that you are going to find experts so you can do it it better is not good enough now. That is bland bullshit. He needed to be way more transparent than he was, and he needed to give some level of detail about the problem in the NFL and how he is going to deal with it. The wolves are going to stay at his door. I guess his plan is to try to outlast the news cycle.

Contrast this to the presser that Adam Silver gave during the Donald Sterling debacle. Silver actually HAD to be careful about what he said, because he was facing potential litigation. And he still said 100 times more than Goodell just did, and did it way better.

Yeah, but the guys everyone is going to read for their take on this, the ones with the biggest influence on public opinion, are practically his drinking buddies, as covered ad nauseum here. By an hour from now, this will be the Gettysburg Address.

    What did Benji ask?

The guy is funny, but he'll never duplicate the brilliance of Stuttering John.

Stuttering John asking Tommy Lasorda if he had to give the money back to SlimFast after he got fat again was one of the best press conference moments of all-time.

Stealing this question from PTS. Does these last few incidents hurt the NFL' popularity/ratings?

I don't think the ratings have been hurt so far. I think it will hurt with corporate sponsorships and advertising, which is probably worse.

To Jimmy Connors: "What did you do with the bag?"
    Connors: "What bag?"
Stuttering John: "The bag to cover Chris Evert's face?"

Of course Stuttering John wrote none of those. The brilliance of him was he didn't even understand what he was asking... making it entertainingly uncomfortable.

He didn't go beyone anythingtha t he should have said or done weeks ago. Why do I sense the committee will be as active as that investigating the A's move to San Jose?

Meanwhile, first shoe on the corporate side may have dropped:
