Damn. If he ever hurts his arm, the coach will fall under scrutiny whether fairly or unfairly. The NCAA apparently doesn't have pitch limits.

I do think there is a difference between throwing that many pitches and throwing that many pitches with runners on base, or whatever.

I mean, if it was Justin Verlander it's probably no big deal. But doing that with a 19-year-old with an obvious professional future borders on malpractice.

It was lower than the pitch he called a ball that the guy in the dugout got tossed for.

The rest of the country doesn't care about soccer, swimming, tennis, golf, track and/or gymnastics?

Maybe the last pitch was a touch low. Rutschman's renowned for framing pitches and stealing strikes.

Why was Arkansas' video guy - who was told at least twice to STFU before he got tossed - in full uniform? Surprised he didn't have eye black on, too.

You left out water polo, men’s volleyball, rowing...

Men's rowing is not an NCAA sport. But Washington and Cal dominated.

Long Beach State won men's VB, over UCLA. Water polo is a pretty popular sport on the West Coast, as legit as a lacrosse title, played by the East Coast elites. UCLA won that too.

Fsir enough. PAC 12 and SEC are about even on the arrogance scale.

Not close. In 2016-17, there were 70 Division I men's lacrosse teams and 25 men's water polo teams.
On the women's side, the numbers were 110 lacrosse and 32 water polo.

Looks as if Pat Casey is retiring as Oregon State's head coach after 24 years. Three national titles and six CWS trips since 2005. Somehow managed to built one of the country's top 5 programs in a rainy, wet, cold spring climate.

For a guy who demands so much of his players, it sounds like he felt he wasn't certain he could give as much - likely more - himself. It will be interesting to see what they do with the job. Bailey the interim job probably has to get to a least a regional to get an interview. No doubt Casey will have input - just hiring a good baseball coach isn't enough in the Northwest - see the Oregon Ducks.
