Arkansas pitcher is 2 outs from no-hitting Oklahoma, eliminating the Sooners; Ark is up 11-0.

Texas down 10-6 going to the 9th inning against Army gets a run on a ground-out and a bases-loaded 3-run 2B to tie it at 10-10 with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th.

So using the Weiser-chaired NCAA Selection Committee's logic, all 10 baseball-playing Big 12 schools will merit NCAA berths next year, and get home regionals to boot.

The RPI is so bad. Use your eyes, use the season results - no team that is 10-17 in conference play and doesn't even make its conference tournament deserves to play anywhere after the regular season - and the ISR.

Texas grand slam in bottom of 9th to win 14-10 and end regional.

What a couple of days at Disch-Falk.

UT's Preston Clark capped an 8-run bottom of the 9th with a walk off grand slam homer to beat Army, 14-10.

7 of 8 Big12 teams that played Sunday allowed 10 or more runs, even Texas, which won 14-10. Kansas State "held" Rice to 8 runs.
By Monday night, Big12 could have 1 team standing - Texas.

And the Texas-TCU super regional in Austin will be quite the war. Former SWC teams, TCU always with a chip on its shoulder because Baylor got the Big 12 invite.

The SEC tourney brought the 10-run rule back a few years ago. I think most leagues have it.

Here in Oxpatch, the Confederates have experienced Appomattox all over again. Led 9-3, brought in their closer against Western Kentucky to start the eighth. Jake Morgan. Throws hard. Of course he threw 2 1/3 innings on Saturday night.

He got shelled. Oops. Shellacked. Uh, never mind ... Drilled ...

Morgan failed to retire anybody, facing six batters, Hilltoppers tied it on Wade Gaynor's second home run of the game. His 25th of the season. To center field.

Western led off the 9th with a homer, too, won 10-9.

If you wanna see some guys hit, check out the 'Toppers. Rebs still have home-field edge, and Mike Bianco is gonna throw his ace, Drew Pomeranz, on two days' rest.

    (Insert own observation/moan/cackle here.)

The Rebels actually lost their best hurler, Scott Bittle, to arm trouble about a month ago. He was the 75th pick in the draft but the Yankees had concerns about his arm/shoulder.

That's where we're at. Pretty amazing shit, really.

And yes, full disclosure, Western Kentucky University gave me a piece of paper and told me to get the hell outta town in 1978.

Has Wky hit double figures in each of its games in the regional? I know they thumped Missouri twice.

Yes, Sock, they have 59 hits in four games. Double digits each game. Got a big 20 tonight. Two-freakin'-0.

    Eight taters.

    They can rake.

Role reversal tonight in Hot 'Lanta. Southern Miss committed three errors, and had a couple of other shoulda-been-errors that a charitable scorekeeper ruled hits. Georgia Tech played flawless ball and put three out in a 10-3 win. They'll play Monday night for the right to go lose two next weekend at Florida. Have no clue how much pitching Tech has left, but I know Southern's staff is running on fumes.
