Corky announced he'd be retiring at the end of this season so it's ever so sweet for him personally.
    Great job, Coach.

I've gotten two better pictures before, but separated at birth:

Nice to see a pair of Mississippi schools in the Supes.
And the one from Starkville - one of a handful of universities that introduced college baseball to the NCAA in the 1970s and 80s as a viable money-maker - didn't even make its conference tourney.

Good luck to Ole Miss and Southern Miss on the trek to Omaha.

That would make sense, except the Buckeyes gave up 24 in their tournament opener.

What was their excuse for that one?

Here's how far Southern has come in baseball. When I was going to school there, you could wander over to the ball park five minutes before the first pitch, set up a lawn chair behind home plate and watch the game.

My question is where are all those message board gurus who wanted Corky fired earlier this season when they were struggling. Not hearing much from them these days, I imagine.

and the NCAA still made it a No. 3 seed, where it lost in two games. The end.

I knew it was coming, and yet, I still laughed.

That was the perfect picture for it, too.

It's not. There just aren't 18 layers of minor leagues and every kid in America playing baseball, so that you could afford a huge attrition rate.

Four of the teams in super regionals are from the ACC - do any of the four make it to Omaha?

Or a better way of answering -- what is the over/under of ACC teams in Omaha?

Two. FSU and North Carolina advance; Clempson is no match for ASU, and Ole Miss squeezes past Virginia in what I think will be the most competitive of any of the supers.

Now, back at you. What's the over/under on the four SEC teams that remain? I've already got the Hogs losing and the Rebs moving on; what about Florida and LSU? As much as my heart wants Southern Miss to win, I don't think they have enough pitching to beat the Gators, but I wouldn't be shocked to see Rice bring down the Tigers.
