Well at least it is good to see that Florida State's annual spring choke job is right on schedule.

They gave up five hits -- and seven runs.

They had 10 hits -- and scored only two runs.

They made three errors and they stranded 14 runners.

Yes, Mike Martin, coaching legend he is........ ::)

Zag, I'm thinkin' 20 years from now, still without a CWS title, Mike Martin's gonna be propped up in the FSU dugout on a coupla 2-by-4s.

Like Euell Gibbons of Grape Nuts fame from back in the day.

Martin and FSU were positioned around 2000-2001 to win it all as Blair Varnes pitched wonderfully.
I think Miami ultimately won that one, though.

As it stands today, hats off to Ole Miss for grinding out the win.
Southern Miss needs to do likewise at Gainesville in that opener.
Mississippi still could get two teams to the CWS.
On to Omaha, boys! The South's rising again!

Yeah, Blitz, and if my Aunt Josephine had a package, she'd be my Aunt Joe.

    I'm stickin' with the 2-x-4 prediction ....

Well, well, well, Louisville. Those cheesy Mohawks? Really?

Fullerton 12, Louisville 0, as Daniel Renken throws a masterful, three-hit, 10-strikeout shutout. The Titans' 3-4-5 hitters Josh Fellhauer (1-2, HR, 2R, RBI, SAC, BB), Jared Clark (4-5, 4RBI, 2R) and Khris Davis (4-5, 2RBI, SB) go a combined 9-12 with 7 RBI.

    The tri-tip tasted particularly well watching this one. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Did Fellhauer go to high school in the I.E.? That name sounds familiar.

Indeed he did: Rancho Cucamonga High.

Well, there you go. I've probably typed his name a few dozen times.

And you'll be typing it or editing it a few more times this year...

Most likely with an Omaha dateline.

Free-swinging Louisville had a three-pitch inning. Three pitches, three popups, three outs. Took about 2 minutes.
Same thing tomorrow and they'll get to the BBQ before the coals are ready.
But Cardinals saved their ace for Game 2.

The U of L color(s) of the Mohawk was (were) a particularly cheesy touch.

Having seen the Louisvillians a time or two, all I can say is it couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch.
