Presented by Klondike. LOL. That's high brow.

Outlined against a blue summer sky, Snooki rode again.

    "Welcome To Grantland
The Sports Guy introduces you to his new website for fans of sports and pop culture."

Doesn't that in itself just bastardize the name?

Jones was good, Klosterman's thing is great and Simmons is unreadable.

Since the co-opted his name, might have been a nice touch to start with tribute post of The Four Horseman of The Apocalypse, so Simmons fans would have some clue as to where the web site name came from.

In Simmons "origins of site " letter it would seem logical to at least give some passing homage to Grantland Rice. Why bother using his name otherwise?

    I liked the footnotes. :)

I hope it is ok to post on the Journalism board given that I am not a journalist. I like most of Simmon's stuff and hope the site does well.

I thought the Klosterman piece was great and the Jones piece was good, might be that I am not enough of a baseball fan to care about all the detail in the Jones piece. The exploding hot dog story resonated more than the sequence of events for the minor league call-up.

I like long form writing (especially on the rare slow day at work) and have no problem with the length.

I am not sure if I am the preferred demo for the site but I will be checking back regularly.

  8. Is there any purpose driving these articles by Simmons, Jones and Klosterman? Other than them telling us in 5,000 words how fucking cool they are?

I didn't read the stories in entirety, but the footnotes to the side was definitely a "why hadn't someone else done this before?" moment. Good online style.

Is it just me or is the font a tad bit small? Seriously.

I love Jones but I thought that piece was a dud. I really thought I'd like the piece but it just didn't do it for me. I tried to read Klosterman's piece but just couldn't get into it.

I think Grantland will be good over time but that was a pretty underwhelming first day.

Dammit. I thought I was going to get to join a reality TV fantasy league. Grantland would have had me hook, line and sinker if that was open to everyone.
