Dammit.

 

I'm waiting for 7000 minutes on the mothership about how he's wonderful, and just misunderstood . . . with additional parallel tripe in the Mag.

 

Really liking most of what I've read so far (although I agree on Klosterman's timeout piece — it was kinda blah and not very timely, considering the NBA season just ended) ...

One big complaint, though:

Does everyone HAVE to do the David Foster Wallace footnote thing? It's a fun style, but in small doses, please!

Seeing as there's no almost no relationship between LeBron and ESPN anymore, I doubt you'll see that, unless it's from a columnist who has that opinion. I had heard he was stiffing the network and website, and Dr Jack reiterated it today. Check it out and try to find any major interview he's done since the Decision, even on Heat Index.

I know it wasn't sports, but I quite enjoyed today's piece on the Razzies.

 

That's some funny stuff:

"This made Thompson at least the third member of his little circle of sportswriting buddies to get misty about the place.

The Grantland subhead identified Elaine's as "the best bar in New York City," which is like calling Joe Namath the best quarterback in the NFL. If you weren't already a working writer at the time of the moon landing, Elaine's had nothing to offer you but doom and cobwebs. A writer in his 30s rambling on about how magical Elaine's was might as well be talking about the great meal he had at Bubba Gump in Times Square."

 

I enjoyed the Elaine's piece. Never been there and now never will. I also enjoyed the Deadspin snark on the article. What really has me curious though is this tweet from Whitlock about Wright Thompson

Do other have similar take on Thompson as a phony?

 

Did Whitlock include himself in the top five phony people in the business? If not, then the list is a complete traveshamockery.
