The big problem I have with the latest Elaine's article is that it's the perfect example of writers writing for other writers ( a pet peeve I've brought up before). Who exactly is the audience for the 47th telling of the Elaine's mystique? That kind of thing will be plenty read, discussed and analyzed around these parts, but the average reader of sports doesn't give a shit about a pretentious writer's bar that no longer exists. It has no mass appeal and, at this point, offers nothing unique.

Pierce's mention of Bill Dwyre sent me on a search for this:

A fine serving of snark from Downey. Maybe Grantland aspires to be the National without the silly stuff, and without the gamers and agate.

I see Jay Caspian Kang takes on the relevance of Ichiro through the use of "I."

    "I," "I," and a little more "I."

To be fair, you can't spell Ichiro without an I.

I concur, I do, as I was saying to my weekend tranvestite companion on our cross-country trek to my next great adventure.

I come up with a total of 40. Not bad but still not on par with Jones hitting triple digit "I" count.

Kang clustered them a little stronger than Jones did. He'd hit you with eight of them in two sentences.

Agree - much better usage. No seminal moments either.

I'm disappointed in Kang. Kodos never does that.
