I'm surprised no one has brought up the massive failure in Simmons' Bruins column. Here's the correction tacked onto the bottom:

By the way, the entire first chunk of the story was about that alleged Game 7.

Agreed, except for Boom posted about it at 8:30 this morning, on the previous page.

Also, I forget this site exists until I come here. Then I'm like "oh, yeah, Grantland. Huh."

One thing with the first-person writing, many New Yorker stories are first-person narratives. Perhaps they're not as focused on the writer as the ones in Grantland - or maybe we're just not as familiar with the writerly personas of the New Yorker writers — but there are plenty of "I's" in New Yorker stories and no one cares. If the story's good, it can be littered with I I I I, whether it's from Seymour Hersh or Wright Thompson.

I'm the same. I have to see a tweet or log on here to remember the site exists.

RT @Poynter: Poynter's McBride: Grantland journalists need to sharpen their focus, develop some self-discipline. http://t.co/kRBvFwF

Surely a quick look at the interwebs would have helped him out.

In recent John Lee Anderson story - Letters From Libya, he wrote a 9800 word story with 14 "I's.
