That's really weird then, as I'm using Firefox - most up to date version as far as I know. Doesn't come up on wife's computer either. And the twitterati are (is?) abuzz that it's down. This guy took a screen shot; this is what I get too.

Whenever it does come back, I'm going to catch up on some of the stuff that went up later in the week. In that way I'm glad they don't update on the weekend right now. It's like a magazine that comes during the week that I don't have a chance to get to until I get to relax a bit on the weekend. Simmons had mentioned not wanting readers to feel overwhelmed by too much content every day.

Huh. I'm running Firefox 3.6.17 and it's fine.

Anybody know anybody anywhere who can tell us if it loads in Explorer?

Apparently they're very committed to not operating on weekends.

Actually, it came up right away for me. Although all the links to previous days are dead.

Grantland will load using this url:

    http://espn.go.com/espn/grantland/

However, the redirect link from www.grantland.com is busted.

Except that's not really the role of an ombudsman, to whine that a piece "blathered on for 3,000 words."

I just went back and read their explainer about what Poynter is doing, and they say it's an expansion of the ombudsman role, and that they will be reviewing content as well. Still strikes me as moronic, and I suspect Simmons is justifiably pissed.

It's like being the sports editor and opening your own paper to find an editorial about deficiencies in the sports section. It's pointless and the result of bad management.

I agree completely. I imagine there are about a hundred things more objectionable with the workings of ESPN than what they're up to with Grantland.
