Fair enough, we obviously don’t see this the same way but the comparisons you used were in no way comparable to the Giants signings of Zito and Rowand.. I don’t think anybody would disagree with your assessment if the players actually contribute. Sometimes you give up a future star to get a guys who contributes on a championship team. Teams and fans can live with that but this is far from that scenario.

I guess doing a story on the Toronto Blue Jays, as Jones did today, is a little bit like "interviewing the drummer" in the AL East.

If we're talking about a bad Celtics trade, it's the Perkins trade.
Having committed to the principle of riding the Big Three as long as possible, why do you turn around and trade a key guy just because he's going to be a free agent and figure you gotta get something for him? They didn't even get 70 cents on the dollar for him. Much better to play it out with Perkins (somebody put something in Ainge's milkshakes for him to think the O'Neals would hold up physically throughout the playoffs), even knowing he was walking at year's end. Now, is there anything out there that's even an improvement on Krstic? I'd rather be puzzling that after a title..

Yeah, especially if the drummer's the only guy in the band who lives in your hometown.

My guess for Jones - next stop Tampa - either a story about Crazy Joe Madden and his love for The Stones or a story on the Sting Ray caretaker.

    That Jeter diary is hilarious.

I will be in NYC Thursday night and at the game. Five hits between now and Thursday's game would be nice.

Let's perpetuate the idea there is a clear division of teams worth writing about and not, which only allows things like the reckless financial disparity to be perceived as totally OK. It's not OK, even if it benefits the great and glorious Boston and New York.

I wouldn't praise Jones' egalitarianism just yet, seeing as how he hasn't made it out of the AL East.

I thought the AL East was his assigned territory. Do they have correspondents for the others?

I would read every word of a Joe Maddon piece. I love him like no other.
