    Then that's on Simmons.

Maddon has an old-fashioned luncheonette in his hometown of Hazleton, Pa. SI parachuted in there a few years ago prior to the playoffs.

I was a little bit skeptical after the two preview pieces he released (Lambert on Summer Movies, and Baker on the Knicks), but I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far. The Jeter diary was a really fun read, and overall it's a lineup of (mostly) strong stories each day. Happy for Simmons and his crew.

The Jeter piece was the best thing so far. The movie star story would have been better if it focused on Smith and maybe Leo.

I liked the Klosterman podcast with Weird Al, but Klosterman is best in infrequent doses.

I liked the Wright Thompson piece on the hot dog guy in Birmingham. Grantland's first acknowledgment of life below the Mason-Dixon line?

He made a point that hit home with me -- foodways. Tastes and food in your past which have become hallowed, larger-than-life through the years.

I had one like that -- a baby shrimp pizza in my hometown's pizza joint. I would pay $500 to have another pizza exactly like that.

Indeed it is. My favorite line:

A buddy of mine had a curse-filled run-in with that guy for ordering a mayonnaise-only hot dog. He was eight years old.

I would have definitely waited until the kid was 10 to ridicule him for ordering a mayonnaise-only hot dog. ;)

What do Shia LaBeouf., Sahsa Vujacic and Tom Hanks have in common?

    Well, I don't think Tom's a dickhead ... ;)

But seriously, if Molly Lambert provides three links to the Details interview with LeBeouf, aren't we better off just saying the hell with Molly Lambert and reading the Details interview?
