    It's a pretty great-looking stable they're building up:
Eggers, Gladwell, Klosterman, Weinreb, Ken Tremendous, Jones, Colson Whitehead, Wright Thompson, and The Masked Man (from Deadspin), among others.

Doesn't Grantland Rice represent the kind of entrenched, established, UNION!!!!!! writer that Simmons has railed against for 15 years now? Wouldn't he, if he were alive and writing today, be The Enemy?

Ken Tremendous is better than any of the guys in that "stable."

Simmons didn't want the name to be Grantland. It was ESPN's call. I think I read that in the NYT profile. Said it was one of those "pick your battles" type of things. He left it alone.

The biggest surprise hire to me was Jonathan Abrams, the New York Times' lead NBA writer. While he's not as high profile as the others, the difference is he's actually leaving the Times to go to Grantland. It seems few of the other hires actually left good full-time jobs for the site.

.........."Into Elaine's rode the Four Horsemen, otherwise known as Jones, McGregor, Pierce and Thompson"

Anyone else thinking that Tommy Craggs faked interest just to make ESPN look like fools in the end?

Might be the most ironic post in the history of this board.

No, just because it would have been even funnier if Craggs had been faking and strung them along. They would have mentioned that. I think by the pink gorilla meeting, though, he hopefully knew his answer. Or Daulerio is just that big of a selfish dick.

    Hmmm.

The first sentence reads "Sumer is icumen in."

Didn't get to the second sentence. And I like movie reviews.

There's "not going for my demo," and then there's this.
