I do believe the guy working the Man U-Beskitas game for FSN was the worst soccer announcer I've ever heard, and that includes the guys on FSC that everybody likes to mock. He sounded like he was doing the game from a fishbowl, he had no enthusiasm. Derek Rae made those games feel important. This felt like a low-level Cup game.

    How was his accent?

    Not that strong, actually.
If you're going to have a Brit for the sake of having a Brit, he ought to have an accent like the gekko in the Geico commericals.

    And my favorite this week:

"There's only one Michael Jackson, one Michael Jackson. There used to be two, but now there's just you, walking in a Jackson wonderland."
In honour of the Marine FC midfielder. (Noel Fleming, England/Northern Ireland).

And sung, as always, to the tune of Winter Wonderland.

I saw this for the first time a few days ago and it make me snicker (avert your eyes, Twoback):

    You are a Scouser,
    An ugly Scouser,
    You're only happy,
    On Giro day,
    Your dad's out stealing,
    Your mum's drug dealing,
So please don't take my hubcaps away.

    From the AP wire:

Thank god. Now all we need is pro/rel and single table and people will FINALLY start taking MLS seriously!

Apparently, I wasn't the only one who thought the announcer working the Champions League games this week was horrible.

Not sure if it should go here or the video games thread, but the FIFA 10 demo is out. Just played a 3-minute halves match as Juventus against Chicago, won on kicks. I didn't buy 09, just downloaded the demo, but this year's game feels more natural. I'll probably buy it, even though I have no money, when it comes out in October.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 also has a demo out. I'm about to start playing that now.

Rangers pulled out a draw when their central defender, Madjid Bougherra, made a run forward, got in the box and cracked a rocket of a shot past Lehmann. It was surprisingly well struck.

I watched the game up in the Niagara Falls area as I'm up in Buffalo this week. Good times with the lads.

More games today, I'll just need to find a way to sneak watching the game while "working."

Talk about a return on an investment. The additional touchline assistant points out that Everton should have a corner, and they score from it. 2-0 up in the first 17 minutes.
