Galaxy fans gave Beckham both barrels, which Golden Balls didn't like ...

    Yeesh. That is not good.

I don't get it. How much stick has they guy gotten over the years at different grounds in England, Spain and around the world? And he loses it at a Galaxy home game?

FYI: Philly got owned. Great time there. We hit up the Dark Horse for a pre-gamer. Then we hit the SOB area lot for some of that goodness. Pre-game dominoes as always and then the march in. Awesome, awesome stuff.

I got back home at about 3 in the morning.

I’m still laughing over the Panamanians getting so upset over such an obvious PK call. Sure, the call was made on the opposite side of the field from me. But my friend looks over and says, “Was that a PK?” I turn back and say, “The ref hasn’t called anything all game. If he’s calling a PK now in overtime, chances are it was so obvious that he would have lost his job if he didn’t call it.”

That is correct! I was definitely counting that as watching a game. It was the World Cup, after all. Good times.

I’m guessing that the fans were a little more rowdy than he was hoping for.

They played like piss last year, they look like it this year. Makes sense to me.

I've encountered that attitutde a couple of times, and I'm not quite sure I get it. I understand not being a bandwagon fan, but don't most Prem teams want international support? Obviously it would be disingenuous of me to come back next week and proclaim that I'm Citeh 'till I die, but I'm sure people from around the world have teams in the U.S. they follow, even if they've never been.

As for being a fan of the game as opposed to a team: I could, and I have been, and I probably will be again for other sports where I don't have a rooting interest (the NBA leaps to mind). But I miss having someone's colors to wear, a reason to watch a game or a match besides that it be good, interacting with a bunch of people with the shared experience of your allegiances. That sort of thing.

Was Beckham an instigator or victim? Depends on which story you read.

Oh, come ON. That's crap. I don't excuse what Beckham did (God, you have to be better than the fucks yelling at you), but this?

"attempted to jump?" The thing was waist-high. IF Beckham wanted over the barrier, he'd have gone over the barrier. He yelled at the guy, told him to get his ass down there, the guy did (English papers also made it sound like Beckham jumped first, which he didn't) and then Beckham hoisted himself up on his hands to look down on the guy. Again, Beckham could have cleared that thing without trying.

It was all a pointless dick-measuring contest.

How badly were you hoping it became an actual dick measuring contest?!

Interesting take on Becks from his visit to NJ last week. Might be more accurate than I originally thought

You don't jump on the field. It's very simple. Even Toronto FC fans stay in their seats when they throw fireworks, railings and beer bottles at players.

    But Becks invited him!
