Um, siren? Hoo-haw hoo-haw hoo-haw? Flashing blue light?
Sunderland midfielder Grant Leadbitter, explaining to a court why he was caught speeding, said he thought the police patrol car following him was in fact a car full of Newcastle United fans chasing him for a fight.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090812/od_nm/us_england_speeding_odd_1

Look, if you don't think Newcastle fans would steal a police car to chase a Sunderland player, then you, sir, don't know Newcastle fans very well.

I keed, I keed. But it's a good story. And that's the shortest driving ban I've ever heard of.

To be fair, there's a decent chance the patrol car had a backseat full of Magpies on an unrelated matter.

The more I think about Bradley sending Donovan out for 90 in the Azteca heat at altitude and in the smog while he's ill, the sicker it makes me.

WTF was Bradley thinking? That a Donovan at 75 percent was better than anybody else?

Cross-boarding here, but: I guarantee you that if Dos Santos tested positive for swine flu after a Mexico loss yesterday, CONCACAF would have made them replay the match.

Not a good decision by those involved. Not at all.

What the hell? I'm in. Ready to get relegated like Leeds United.

I'm in two of those leagues and plan to get mauled in both.

It's my first soccer fantasy league experience, too. I have no idea what I'm doing but it sounds like fun.

Next year we have to have a draft party at someone's house. I nominate Trooper Bari. :D

Soccernet has made a significant increase in their coverage of SPL since picking up its TV rights. Too bad they did not give them enough money to buy good players. Championship is much better this year.

As Aberdeen's experience in the CL qualifiers clearly demonstrates.
