Hey, lookie who's leading 1-0 at Turf Moor. And it's not Man U.

Man United loses, Liverpool wins, Owen plays like crap. I'm happy.

Hey, lookie who just won at Turf Moor. And it wasn't Man U.

    Burnley 1-0 Man United. Wow.

Portsmouth, meanwhile, lose 1-0 to Birmingham on a 90th-minute penalty. Lovely. Spurs win 5-1 away to Hull, Liverpool beat Stoke 3-0.

Not going to be a pretty season for United. I can see a panic buy coming up -- maybe David Villa?

I recall ManU losing to Wolves on the road a few years ago. These things will happen. No need to read into it.

Looks like I picked the right year to bandwagon Spurs. And I'm well aware that I'm following the Bill Simmons path. I don't care.

Burnley might have their return ticket to the CL still ready to go come May, but they'll cherish this one for the next 33 years until they come back to the top tier.

And speaking of CL, Newcastle 1-0 Sheffield Wednesday means IJAG's Magpies are in third. The Owls logo is pretty damned stupid looking. And perhaps the more learned England fans can answer this for me, but why do they still call their stadium Hillsborough? I know it's been there for a million years or so, but isn't that name tarnished?

From the all-knowing Wiki on Hillsborough Stadium ...
That said, I'm guessing if a corporate sponsor was willing to write a large enough check (or cheque) they'd change the name.

Shola with the winner again. I'll take everything I said bad about him before the season starts if he can continue to put the ball in the net. IN the Premier League he always looked out of his depth, but now, well 4 in three games to get us six important points.

MMII, there NEVER is a good year to bandwagon Spurs.

And they had the CEO of the Burnley Council on ESPN2's First Take this morning. I happened to turn to it to avoid the latest Favre or Burriss spoogefest on ESPN, ESPNews and ESPN The Ocho.

He was understandably thrilled, talking about Burnley, the 88,000 people who live there and the 21,000 who were at the game. He said that this could be the game that ensures they stay up in the Prem this year.

Uhhhh, not so fast there, Beavis. It's August, you play in a stadium smaller than some American high school teams and you needed a PK save to hold on yesterday. Enjoy the day, but save the we're-not-going-down talk until May.

Nice use of the King's Yiddish, Trooper. Well played.
