Cohen is an ignorant jackass and is someone we don't need in the American soccer community at this juncture. He could have easily steered free of this controversy if he never said that vile and disgusting shit he did. He has no room to play the victim card if you know the background involved in this mess.

If he thinks he can't be replaced he's wrong. There are plenty of people out there who could produce a solid radio show on soccer in this country and certainly ones who would give the domestic nation and its leagues a decent amount of respect.

I do know the background involved as do most of the posters here since a link to the Taylor report was posted in this very thread. And regardless of what he said NO ONE deserves to have their lives and those of their children threatened by thugs.

Instead of offering an honest apology which could have diffused everything, Cohen chose to play the intimidation and threat game too. It's not surprising that his actions led to those threats.

He offered two apologies on the air and one in a press release on his website. And when did he ever threaten the safety of anyone?

Well, now I know who I'm rooting against the rest of the season.

That's really pathetic on the part of the Liverpool supporters.

He went back on his apologies on the air. They were never genuine.

    The threats? Right here.

Yeah, "Happy birthday to Bev" is a pretty vicious threat.

Damn straight it's a threat. Cohen also dropped that man's personal details on the air which led to death threats and eventual involvement of the FBI.

Remember this all started because a douchebag told a malicious lie that had no basis in any sort of reality. I'm not a Liverpool fan, but I've read plenty of material on what happened at Hillsborough. The people who were injured or killed on that day never got anything resembling justice. If they can't get justice, they at least deserve the dignity of the facts being presented accurately, especially in a foreign country where the audience might not be as familiar with the story.

Matt: The guy has reiterated his position many times. If you read the text of the apology, it undermined itself right there.
I'm not defending anyone's tactics in this. But Cohen had many opportunities to save himself and was too pig-headed to take them.
The moral of the story: This is what happens when you put fans in control of media.

    FACT!

He hated MLS and never gave it a drop of respect. Fuck him for that. That he's now for the off is fine by me.

Words you never thought you'd see: Sol Campbell to Notts County.
