Every U.S. team that Adu has been a part of has played well.
At every level.
U-19s in 2005 beat Argentina, albeit in part because the dope ARG coach didn't start Messi.
U-19s in 2007 beat Brazil and made the semis.
U-23 at the 2008 Olympics had Netherlands beat until they screwed up a late free kick.
Adu was a huge contributor to every one of those teams. I'm not sure what people expect, but Adu has been at least as good a youth player as Donovan was.

At age 20, Donovan was a breakout star for the US in South Korea. Adu has been good at the youth levels (he was very dangerous in 2005), but he's been less effective as the competition has increased. He has flashes of excellent play, but mostly he's a capable attacking midfielder/support striker and nothing more.

Adu hasn't really gotten a great shot with the senior team, in part because it's not as desperate for his talent as the team was when Donovan arrived, in part because he can't find a club where he can get time.

Mexico has no class. Remember when their goalie tried to trip the American after a goal scored in a friendly? Remember the assistant coach for Mexico slapping Fankie Heijduk after their most recent loss to the USA?

It is actions like that that dont make me the least bit upset about throwing the whole 2-0 win in their face.

I forgot to add another incident. A Panama player got hurt about two minutes after the game resumed. They carried him over to a the sidelines in front of a huge Mexican area. All of a sudden, i see about five Panama players running to the sideline. Yep, the Mexican fans were throwing shit at the hurt Panama player.

The obvious answer is no. I can't answer exactly why. In MLS, he was poorly handled. Nowak never wanted him, and why DC would be positioned to sign him in that circumstance, I'll never understand.
But Benfica?
Monaco?
I don't get it. I do know that they're still griping in Derbyshire about Benny F never getting a fair shot there. Maybe the anti-American prejudice still exists in some clubs. I think Freddy needs to find a league where he can play, whether that's MLS, Scandanavia, Holland or Venus.

This all started with Mexico's coach kicking Phillips. Panama did little to incite anything yesterday. Fuck, if CONCACAF had any balls, they'd boot Mexico from this tournament.
