FA Cup Jan of 2008....my brother and a few of our buddies were there.
QPR lost on an own goal and, in all honesty, beat Chelsea up and down, left and right, all damn day.
And I'm not just saying that because I'm a QPR supporter...it is fact.

Maybe I'm seeing this thru my red-colored glasses, but what is he supposed to do there? The keeper dives at his legs and he trips.

Just saw The Damned United movie. Excellent stuff. I was really impressed by the skill of the filmmakers used to recreate the atmosphere of 70s football. Whereas our period pieces in the US are CGI shitfests, the filmmakers in this case used a unique blend of editing and archival footage to make it believable.

As for the subject matter, the book was better (actually the audio recording by John Simm trumps all media formats) but the film thankfully took some chances. I would venture to say it's the best film about coaching I've seen.

Oh I thought it was a perfectly good call. But I'm a Giggs fanboi looser.

I don't get how games can be considered evil. Isn't it hard to watch soccer if there are no games?

Sadly, yes, I noticed the same thing.
    Couldn't undertsand that at all.

City beat Pompey 1-0. Something tells me a handful of Watford players ain't gonna be enough to keep Pompey up.

Modric is injured and will miss the England match.

Can someone explain why Arsene was bitching about the non-penalty on Arshavin when Arsenal scored from the same buildup less than a minute later? It's not as though they were going to get two goals out of that situation.

Yet more diving-related silliness, as Celtic's Stephen McGeady gets a second yellow card for an alleged dive against Hearts. He was on the halfway line, there didn't appear to be any contact, but it's a harsh punishment, methinks.

I've never seen a goal so obviously arranged as Diego's first versus Roma today. (Begins at about the :30 mark in this video.)

    http://www.101greatgoals.com/videodisplay/3316717/

Watch Marco Cassetti miss a ball chipped softly at him, allowing it to pass him. Then he seems to wait, with Diego in pursuit - doesn't pass, dribble, anything. Then, as Diego catches him, he steps AROUND AND AWAY from the ball, still not touching it. Finally, in a moment I can only assume was a poorly-disguised reflex, he actually reaches his leg back and tries to touch it to Diego, or into his path. What results is a world-class striker on a 60 yard breakaway.

As Diego scored, Cassetti put his face in his hands, as well he should have. There is no shame in making a mistake. This was not a mistake.
