Really? That mountain of man out there looks a lot more like Gooch than Califf. ESPN has the back line as Pearce, Boca, Gooch and Dolo.

So is this on the 'Net anywhere? ChannelSurfing.net has it listed but it isn't loading.

    I'm DVRing this game.

Looking at these lineups, I'm not looking forward to tonight's viewing with Mrs. Birdscribe, who said when I told her this fact: "This isn't going to be pretty, is it?"

McBride announces he's leaving Fulham ...

LONDON (AP) — Brian McBride is leaving Fulham of England’s Premier League to return to the United States.
“After much consideration with my family, we have decided to leave Fulham after four and a half fantastic years,” the 35-year-old forward said in a statement Wednesday on the club’s Web site. “I have always stated my intention to return to America at some stage and this seems like the right moment in my career to move on.”
McBride’s contract has expired. A veteran of three World Cups, he avoided discussing his future after Fulham avoided relegation on the final day of the season.
“I take great pride in the fact that my last appearance for Fulham saw the club maintain its Premier League status,” McBride said. “I leave with some wonderful memories from my time at Fulham, and the club will always be in my heart.”
McBride played for Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew from 1996-04 and was a seven-time All-Star. If McBride signs with MLS, Toronto would have the first chance to sign him. However, Toronto could sign him and trade him.

  7. those of you who can't watch aren't missing much. US has had some decent spells of possession and a few semi-dangerous free kicks that came to nothing. england just carved out the first real chance, but defoe missed everything.

  8. and there's a pretty predictable goal--terry heads in a beckham free kick.

  9. stupid foul by rico clark. and harkes just said it was a big lift for terry to score after missing the PK. right, i'm sure he feels completely better scoring in a friendly against a mediocre side.

Gerrard scores to make it 2-0.

Johnson needed to finish the chance early in the second half. That was the opportunity to get back in the match, but then again, finishing against good teams is the Americans' prime weakness.
