    It's probably even worse in women's soccer because all but the top players are making meager wages, hoping to prolong their careers while working other gigs - and I'm sure they are expected to just be "grateful" there is a women't league, and told if they speak out it might all go away.

    The off-field soccer business can be seamy AF but American sports leagues can be just as bad.

    For example, how the hell is Mark Cuban — former employer of Pants DJ — getting a pass from the NBA after the documented shenanigans of other NBA owners?

    The report added that "Abuse in the NWSL is rooted in a deeper culture in women's soccer, beginning in youth leagues, that normalizes verbally abusive coaching and blurs boundaries between coaches and players."

    That's one of the things that bothers me, the systemic ignorance of abuse in women's sports such as gymnastics , swimming and soccer. Worse, I'm not seeing anyone or any groups stepping up to reverse the trend beyond saying "this is bad."
