If United can get £20mm for Rooney, go for it. I've seen a majority of his games for United and I think that he's on the decline and that he is going to continue to be injury prone and a malcontent.

Papiss Cisse is refusing to wear a shirt with Newcastle's new sponsor, a payday loan company, citing religious grounds. Fellow Muslims Cheick Tiote and Moussa Sissoko apparently have no problem with it.

But Virgin Money - which also gives loans - wasn't a problem?

And United reportedly has a $91m offer lined up for Gareth Bale. I suspect if they pull that off, they'll sell Rooney.

Maybe ManYoo will stop bugging Everton about Leighton Baines then.

I remember that coming up with Freddie Kanoute while he was with Sevilla. He wore an unbranded jersey and the sponsor eventually agreed to release him from any appearance requirements.

Virgin Money is a standard bank -- the former Northern Rock. Wonga is a payday lender -- 4,100% APRs and the like. Islam does forbid all forms of usury, but Wonga is certainly a lot more usurious than Virgin Money.

Of course, the whole concept of Islamic banking is basically trying to find a way to charge interest without it really being interest. Reminds me somewhat of the SNL sketch about the search for ways to pass a camel through the eye of a needle (tiny camels, liquified camels, etc.).

Yeah, I'm familiar with Virgin Money's history.

Just seems like he might be using it as an excuse for a transfer.

He gone, not that it will make La Liga any less of a duopoly. Maybe now everybody will follow Roger Bennett's lead and fall in love with Germany all over again?

Shall we start a new thread for the changing of the seasons? After the Gold Cup, perhaps?

When did "Demolition Man"-era Wesley Snipes get a call-up, and why couldn't El Salvador mark a man that noticeable?
