Guess Guzan's organizational skills aren't the only problem at Villa Park.

Anybody else see the black tuxedo with white polka dots Messi wore to the Ballon d'Or awards?

Michael Owen with the dumbass tweet of the year (so far):

In case you don't know, Bradford's City's stadium Valley Parade burned to the ground in 1985 killing 56 and injuring 256 more (live on TV). It was due to decades of trash accumulating under the wooden stand.

Michael did apologize later, but anyone involved in English football (especially someone who was old enough to remember it) should know that's the first thing that people think about when the name Bradford City comes up. To me, it seems like a joke that went horribly wrong.

Being attached to Liverpool for as long as he was, he should know all about stadium disasters and the sensitivity that should be involved in writing and talking about such matters.

Owen doesn't seem the type to make a joke like that. He probably tweeted without thinking.

Michael Owen was 6 years old in 1985. Certainly he knows about what happened but it probably isn't a memory for him and he made an honest mistake, which he apologized for.

On the flip side, Soccer Night in Newtown was a big success.

Tense game between Liverpool and Man United, if not exactly an advertisement for top quality soccer, but United win 2-1. Borderline offsides on Man United's second goal, which took an accidental touch off of Vidic.

I really thought Reina's head would pop off after that collision with Kagawa. Not the prettiest match, but the right result. And Van Persie is a decent striker. :D
