Desk, have to admit I haven't kept up, but what did they do to get 10 points deducted?

If he's only 25 and Leeds United thought enough of him to want him at one point (even if it didn't work out), then goodness knows he's probably still good enough to play a lot of places around the world. Best of luck to him.

For financial reasons (I believe) several years ago in their final Premier League season. I think Hull, Portsmouth and Burnley were relegated after the 2010 (or 2011) season.

The Fire hold his MLS rights. He could be a real belweather for acceptance in this country. Would love to see him come back, because he obviously can still play, and because the potential social ramifications, especially in a large market, would be far-reaching.

They went into administration again. They got hit for 10 points last season, and were told at the beginning of this season that they'd lose 10 more when they came out of administration -- which they haven't done yet. They've also been told that if they fail to exit administration by the end of this season, they'll be turfed out of the League.

The 9 points they lost in their last Premier League was actually a different administration. The company that bought them out of that one ended up going bust when its owner got arrested for fraud relating to a Lithuanian bank that he owned. (The owner of Hearts also owns a different Lithuanian bank that went bust last week.)

There's a supporter's trust in line to buy the club, but it hinges on the valuation of the ground, which will be determined by a court hearing that keeps getting postponed.

When you say out of the League, as in all the way out of the FA? Heck of a fall for a club that was in the Premiership not too long ago.

No, the Football League, so it's possible it would just be one division anyway. Although to be honest, if they're not out of administration by then, they'll probably have been liquidated anyway, at which point they might have to look at re-forming.

The FA's general penalty for going bust and re-forming is to be dropped three leagues, although there's some consideration given to safety, crowd size, etc.

OK. Didn't know that. I'll have to keep better track of these things and am interested to see what winds up happening.

The other problem with a potential reformation is that the money pledged to the supporters' trust is very specifically for the existing club. They would not be able to convert that money and use it for a new club (Portsmouth United or whatever). There's also no guarantee that any new club would get access to the ground.

Also: Yesterday Carlisle's team coach got charged £20 to park outside the ground. You really can't make this shit up. :D

I've never understood how a team could hold his rights or trade them, when he was allowed to go to Leeds on a free transfer. He was a free agent.

That was his point as well.
