They're pretty gross though, even the ones that "clean" themselves between use.

Don't interrupt American self-loathing in process.
Every country does everything better than the US!

Look, my Prime Pisser service will be open to all colors as long as I get paid. Yellow and brown, mostly.

So are the ones in any NYC Starbucks.

There was an experiment here in the early aughts with some coin-op self-cleaners. One was in Herald Square. Never caught on here.

That said, the ones maintained by "neighborhood" business improvement districts can be pretty nice. Bryant Park is a good example.

I'd rather have that subscription service than a public restroom.
    • I won't have to pay a new tax for all the new public restrooms.
    • I can probably expense my bathroom subscription or claim it on taxes.

    Do it!

I tried to describe Amsterdam's street urinals to my wife recently.

I thought there were some that were even less discreet.

    Not self-loathing, just a fact.

Lots and lots of pissoirs and public restrooms in Germany and Italy and France, etc., etc., etc.

You generally pay a small fee to use them, which in many cases is reimbursed.

Americans shouldn't complain about limited access to bathrooms in retail locations like McDonalds or Starbucks, and then also complain about no public restrooms in public places.

When we were in Moscow there were privately run porta potties. You hand the proprietor a few rubles, go in and do your business and when you leave they go in and clean it up and wait for the next person who drank too much vodka.
