I guess. That footage of Jordan in his hotel room smoking a cigar in ‘98 was pretty telling, though. He talked about how you know when it’s time to go and that he was feeling it. I do think it would be hard to turn down the chance to go for four consecutive, but I just don’t think they win that seventh title in ‘99 if MJ was over it. Who knows.

The dream team was going to win regardless of what one player did or didn't play, and it was obvious that nobody wanted to hang around that fucking twerp Isaiah for six weeks.

He had beefs with Jordan, Pippen, Bird, Malone, and I am probably forgetting one or two.

    Magic.

Due to his legendary trash talking, Bird wasn't (and still isn't) particularly well-liked among rival players (except for Magic, and you wonder if that may have been somewhat of a PR exercise on both parts). What if Jordan had said he didn't want Larry Bird on the team?

IT was the Dick Whitman of the NBA. Lots of talent, but how fucking exhausting would it be to put up with him every day for six straight weeks.

As Casey Kasem once said, "Ponderous, man. Fucking ponderous".

Is that the game where Karl Malone gave him 40 stitches?

All players at various points in their careers have to put up with teammates they don't like (ranging from moderate distaste to utter revulsion). Most of them learn to deal with it for a limited time. If you're real powerful like Jordan, Magic or Bird, you get rid of them after a few weeks.
So you don't invite Isiah to golf, you don't play cards with him on the bus, you don't invite him dancing in the discos. So what?

And although Isiah was probably deserving, Stockton was much more likable and Drexler had been MVP runner up during the ‘91-92 season.

Players tolerate teammates they don’t like because they want to win. But if you already know that you’re going to win the gold medal, why would you put up with someone you hate?

If you are going to be a major pain in the ass daily, your game better be enough better than the rest to make you worth putting up with.

Isiah just isn't that much better than Stockton or Drexler.
