And that's how you bunt against the shift.

Gives him more time to work on that Athletic lawsuit.

Well, depending how the salary is prorated, that works out to something like a $50 million fine, so MLB certainly can't be accused of "doing nothing about it."

Bauer mostly suspended for being a douche.

Well, if you call beating a woman into unconsciousness while you assfuck her "being a douche," then yeah, right.

I have read 3 outlets’ stories on this and none of them placed the words “without pay” in the first paragraph. Buried in all cases. Very important detail easily placed in the opening sentence.

Update: The Athletic, however, got it right.

Aroldis Chapman, Marcell Ozuna, Odubel Herrera, and others did similar and are back in baseball.

You gotta wonder why Bauer gets this and they are all playing tonight. Are they not as big of assholes?

Its easy to file a lawsuit, harder to win.

He's a public figure, not only is truth a defense to a defamation lawsuit, but as a public figure he has to prove that the Athletic and Ms. Knight, even if the report was false, that they intentionally knew that what they were saying was false. Not negligent, but knowingly printed something false. Based on what has been reported, whether its true or not is likely true, then even if it was not true, hard to see intentionally reporting something false, let alone that a reasonable person would see was false (negligence standard). Hey good press to say you're suing but that's about it.
