That is true, but LSU still controls its own destiny. If the Tigers win out (including beating Florida in the SEC title game), you could have Florida, Alabama and LSU all with one loss. Would be interesting to see which of the former two got a BCS bid if LSU gets the automatic.

The BCS has its entire fraudulent self to consider. If both Boise and TCU are undefeated, and a 9-3 ND gets picked, the political hoo-ha will commence in earnest.

I don't think Notre Dame will be in the Top 8 unless they're 10-2, and maybe not even then.

Depending on which poll you're ogling at that moment.

I'd like to see Notre Dame stop Navy's run. Ain't happening.

Speaking of polls, Florida back to the top spot in the AP.

I would much rather see Navy roll up Notre Dame.

If Penn State gets to 11 wins - they are a lock and they are probably a lock even if they drop a close one to Ohio State and finish at 10-2. There is simply no way for a bowl to overlook those 100,000 fans, most of whom travel all over the world to watch that team.

I think if Ohio State wins out and finishes 10-2, same thing - though that would put them in the Rose Bowl, PSU in the BCS and an 11-1 Iowa team left to go to Orlando or Tampa or whatever.

I also think if USC loses to Oregon - which they likely will - and they finish 10-2 they are a more attractive option to a bowl than Boise, TCU or any of those teams.

Nice to see that in the Asshole Bowl:

    1) Saban wins but still looks horrible at being taken down to the gun, at home, by an obviously inferior team;

    2) As soon as the field goal is blocked, Saban's allegedly-supremely disciplined and poised team erupts in an orgy of preening and hot-dogging, which could (possibly should) have been flagged, and

    3) Kiffin, a legend in his own mind, very arguably blows the game by playing his "lookit-me-i'm-a-genius" clock-milking routine, leaving his kicker with a seriously-difficult (for a college kicker) 44-yard attempt. Hey Laney Boy, run another play or two, gain 10 more yards, and that kick becomes a 34-yard chip shot (long FG attempts are blocked more often because the kickers want to drive them for more distance, resulting in lower trajectories, resulting in higher frequency of blocked kicks).

But nooooooooooo, you had to be a genius. Good work, dumbass.

What would have been the point to flagging Alabama?

The ball went beyond the line of scrimmage after the block, which means it was Alabama ball. The alleged penalty happened after the play was over. So if you throw the flag, you move Alabama back 15 yards with :00 on the clock, and they take a knee.

I'm failing to see how throwing a flag on Cody would have impacted the game at all.

It would not have impacted the game. It's a credibility issue. You can bet the refs will be downgraded in the observer's report.

They lost credibility for not flagging a guy when the game is over?

They wouldn't have had to take a knee, because the game would have been over.

A point that, despite having been made about six times, seems to be lost on the people who want to play the conspiracy game.
