An "iditiot" who will pull in a Top 5 recruiting class this year and turn UT from the abyss into an SEC contender by his third year.

Check out last year's Alabama-Tennessee game just to see what a difference coaching makes. Check out the result in a couple of years to see what a difference coaching AND players make.

Don't worry. I think his column is just as absurd. I mean, did you think I was going to read that and change my mind?

You'll pardon me if I don't hold my breath about Lane Kiffin morphing into Bear Bryant in two years.

    You're right.

    He won't cheat.

And he can't hoard 120 players on his roster.

So he'll have a little tougher time.

And all I said was he will turn UT into "an SEC contender." Didn't say he would win 329 national championships (or however many Bama fanbois claim).

Given that Kiffin has demonstrated on several occasions that he has seemingly never read the NCAA rulebook, I'd say the chances of him cheating are pretty strong.

He won't cheat? He's already been caught about ten times for cheating.

And yeah, they might be a contender in three years but they'll be on probation within five.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Oct. 26, 2009) – Southeastern Conference Commissioner Mike Slive has issued a public reprimand to University of Tennessee head football coach Lane Kiffin for his public comments concerning officiating Sunday.

"Coach Kiffin has violated the Southeastern Conference Code of Ethics," Slive said. "SEC Bylaw 10.5.4 clearly states that coaches, players and support personnel shall refrain from all public criticism of officials.”

“This is the second reprimand for Coach Kiffin in this calendar year. Coach Kiffin is on notice that for any further violations of SEC policies will subject him to additional penalties including suspension.”

    Next Dan Mullen?

    His post-game remarks Saturday night:

"I don't even know why we have replay right now in the Southeastern Conference if they're not going to utilize it," Mullen said. "That's twice now that they've blown calls on the replay with our games, resulting in big plays, and I think that's inexcusable for that official. I hope he's severely punished if he ever works another SEC game again, because I think it's completely unacceptable.

"I can understand making a bad call in a live speed during the game like the offsides call. There's no excuse for a guy who has the amount of time to replay the video to make sure they get the call right. That's why do instant replay and I think it's embarrassing that they blew that call. I've seen the still shots of the ball out of his hand. I don't think that's acceptable on a guy that has the ability to watch all the different angles."

Didn't realize Bama only had one penalty against Tennessee for just 10 yards. Throw in being outgained by almost 100 yards and the turnovers being even, I can understand why Kiffin is hacked for being penalized that much more than Bama.
But if you're going to complain about the officiating, I wish he had a better example than the helmet thing.

Funny how, now that Kiffin is pointing out the emperor has no clothes, suddenly some people around here think the SEC's officiating crews are as top-notch as a Super Bowl crew.

There are good and bad crews in every conference. You can figure out which ones are which by seeing which crew gets which bowl game.
