It is terrible. We recorded the finale last night, and I can't wait for it to be over.
It started with promise, but it has descended into the worst dreck.

I liked the last two episodes of "The Following," especially the second to last. Thought the dinner scene with Carroll and his hostages was loads of fun. The last couple minutes of the finale were sort of predictable but stunning at the same time. I don't know what I'll do about next season. Not sure where it can go at this point.

Elizabeth Moss is building quite a resume. She's fantastic in Top of the Lake. It will be interesting to see what she chooses to do after Mad Men. I hope she gets the lead role in something on HBO or AMC, but she could go movie route, too.

She was pretty convincing with her understated accent in TotL.

I think there is more of a market for average-looking women in TV. The movie industry demands its starlets. I find Elisabeth Moss extremely sexy (though the Scientology doesn't help), but she is not conventionally Hollywood hot.

We've been watching it in my house. I don't love it, but it's certainly watchable. There seems like a definite Twin Peaks vibe going on there, and up until the last episode or so I didn't feel like it had a lot of Psycho qualities to it. You could have changed the name from Norman Bates to Norman Smith and I don't think it would make the show feel all that different.

  6. The Following could have been outstanding if they had done it similar to American Horror Story and basically just made it a longer mini-series. But there's just no way to keep dragging that crap out with the same thing over and over and over.

Two good things about the finale of 'The Following':

    1. Almost every character we've had to endure for more than two episodes is dead. If only they all died.

    B. I never have to watch that show again.

It was like the bad guys were Road Runner and the FBI were Wyle E. Coyote.

Hemlock Grove: Just finished it today. Great in parts. I liked the series as a whole, but I can see why people might crap on it, but it does have an ability to draw you in and keep you coming back for more.

    Hope they do Season 2.

Can I ask what the plot was that had you rolling your eyes?

And who are the two actors you dislike? (My guess is the Lauren Graham-Ray Romano arc).

Yes, I dislike Lauren Graham and Ray Romano. The eye-rolling thing was too harsh. The early part of the cancer plot, especially the Christmas episode, was overly sentimental. The second half of the plot was stronger.

I've always loved Lauren Graham, but her character does drive me nuts at times. Since "Men of a Certain Age" I'll always give Romano the benefit of the doubt. That show should still be on the air. I do like what he's done with the character. I think he's actually kind of good for Sara.

As for the cancer plot, I was disappointed when it started. Yes, breast cancer happens in many families. But does it have to happen in every TV family? Still, I thought they did more good things with it than bad things. The time Hattie showed up at the restaurant still gets to me just thinking about it.
