Rake was okay. It's almost like Fox said, "Hey, America, remember that wacky Dr. House? Well, now we have a show about a wacky lawyer! But we're going to try too hard and strip away a lot of the dramatic elements that balanced the wackiness of House!"

I'll give it a few episodes, but it didn't blow me away like House did nearly ten years ago,

I've seen the Aussie version a few times on DirecTV. It's not bad.

Anybody else watch The Blacklist? Love Spader, but the Lizzie character is so stupid and naive in her personal life. Then all of a sudden she's this brilliant crime solver and hunting down bad guys all over the world, before going home and she can't explain to her almost-as-dumb husband why she's late for dinner again, or why it was asinine to expect her on time in the first place.

Her husband isn't that dumb. That's what is going to make things interesting going forward.

Caught the first episode of "True Detective" on HBO last night and thought it was intriguing. Definitely going to check it out moving forward.

  8. Finished two season of Boardwalk Empire. Seemed to tie up things pretty well.
Wondering if it's worth it to continue on?

I've seen all of the first two seasons of the Aussie one. It's great and goes into some really dark and messed up places. The remake puzzled me as it seemed very Australian centric. The justice system over there is just way different.

This last season (season 4) was by far the best in the show, IMHO. Definitely keep soldiering on.

Season 2 would have been a great ending -- even though I totally didn't buy the Jimmy story at the end of the season. The 3rd and 4th seasons seem like a different show -- about the same in quality for me, but different.

Michael Pitt kind of forced their hand by being impossible to work with. They basically wrote him out of the show. That's why in Season 4, they positioned a different character to take on the "Jimmy" role.

I did not much like Season 3 except for the finale, which BE always done well.

Season 4 is very good, though. Jeffrey Wright in particular is outstanding.
