I'll take your word for it. :)

Don't know how many of you are still watching and/or caught up on the DVR, but last night's episode of "True Detective" closed with about 15 of the most intense minutes I've seen since Breaking Bad went off the air.

I'm with you. I don't know how anybody could go back for a second season of that show.

As for 'True Detective,' I really like it. That's the show I'm enjoying most these days.

Amazon has several shows in pilot mode, and in lieu of Dr. V ...

"Transparent" is getting heavy play on the social media. Just watched the pilot. It's free.

No need to spoil any plot lines but there are boobs and butts and rekindled lesbian action and Jeffrey Tambor playing the starring role. Worth the 25 minutes.

    Hmmmm.

Don't know if I can hack that particular thing on a weekly basis. :)

I saw two of the Amazon pilots last night:

"Transparent," despite the decent payoff at the end, just really bored the hell out of me. And I don't know if I want to go through 10 more episodes of such unlikeable characters as the grown-up kids.

Also, saw "The Rebels," about a woman who inherits her husband's pro football team after he dies. Pretty much looked like a warmed-over reboot of the old HBO "1st and Ten" series.

I'll probably try and see "Mozart in the Jungle" and "Bosch" before they get taken down.

House of Cards season 2 binge-a-thon begins at 3 a.m.

Willa Paskin at Slate wrote a pretty good rundown on what to expect, without giving away spoilers (too much).

I'm one episode from finishing season one of House of Cards. It's about what I expected - a solid show with good performances, but definitely below some of the top debut seasons from recent years.

I also finally got around to diving into Twin Peaks. I watched the first season in about a day and a half. While I know the melodramatic aspects are intentionally over-the-top, I could have done without some of that stuff. Other than that, though, I love it. It's amazing how ahead of its time it was.

A question for those who have seen it - there's a point in season 2 where it goes really downhill, correct, because the network forced them to reveal who the murderer is? Should I basically just stop at that point or is it worth it to finish the 2nd season?

Unless you're a completist, I wouldn't waste my time after the killer is revealed. Lynch never wanted that reveal to happen. It would've been great to see him keep dangling that carrot in front of the audience for years.

It's amazing how absorbing the show is and then -- bam -- it loses all reason for even existing in one episode.

    That's what I figured.

  12. Damages...
It was recommended to me by a friend, based on my love of Dexter and Sherlock.... Thoughts?
