I thought last night was fine. We've been introduced to the conflicts that I suspect will carry the season. TBBT left me wanting a little more last season, and not in a good way. The episodes felt truncated. Last night felt like a more complete episode. Still, they didn't hit a homerun last night. Want to see where they go.

I thought that, when it wasn't depressing, it was creepy and had almost no spark.

I wish they would just ditch Stewart already for the exact reason he brings a creepy factor that is a bit much.

Me and my Facebook friends agree that last night fell well short after all the summer hype.

heh, I can't tell if you are saying this sarcastically or not... To me, pretty much the whole network slate of shows looked like garbage, excluding some mildly promising stuff (The Grinder, and I'll probably give Heroes another shot). I really like Mom, but it doesn't come back until November.

Black-ish is good, and I like Modern Family, but it has definitely gotten cheesier and slipped as it has aged. Both come back tomorrow.

Fox's Sunday slate comes back this week too. Simpsons, Last Man on Earth, Bob's Burgers, Brooklyn 99, Family Guy. All of them are varying degrees of watchable to me, for different reasons.

Working my way through The Blacklist, another show I should have started when it debuted, but never had time to watch it. So damn good.

Used to enjoy picking up the TV Guide Fall Preview issue and stashing it away - always fun to look back a year or so later and wonder "really, they thought that would work?" These days - I don't know if TV Guide even publishes anymore. Haven't seen one in a grocery store for a few years. Entertainment Weekly has a decent Fall Preview issue though.

    'Minority Report' 'West Wing' homage

I knew the premise for the Minority Report television show was the program starting up again after the events of the movie. Now I read that it is also supposed to be in the same "universe" as The West Wing. The show's version of Washington D.C. comes complete with Bartlet Plaza. Minority Report Executive Producer Kevin Falls worked on The West Wing.

I like Blacklist but having watched Season 1 via Netflix in about two weeks and Season 2 in real time last year, the show seemed much much better to me on binge.

Had high hopes for "Life in Pieces," what with Thomas Sadowski, Betsy Brandt, Dianne Wiest, James Brolin, Colin Hanks.

Going to give it another chance, but quite disappointed with the first episode. First 20 minutes was a series of uncomfortable sex comedy.

Some Googling appears to show that I was mistaken. He began pronouncing it that way back in college (the joke was calling the show, "The Repore") and always intended to keep the pronunciation when he moved to the Late Show. I could have sworn I saw at least one interview in which he talked about being himself on The Late Show and that he would return to the original pronunciation of "Col-bert," but I can't find it now.

Anyone watch The Muppets? I thought it was pretty hilarious. I'm on board.
