You're the Worst and Better Things are my two favorite half hours on TV right now.

Grey's Anatomy had its 300th episode last night. Considering her character's name is on the title and ABC and Shonda Rimes has ridden that show as hard as it has, I don't know why Ellen Pompeo doesn't make as much as - or more than - Mark Harmon at this point.

Probably a lack of options on her part, and Shonda has shown that she has no qualms with killing people off the shows. Also, as a second-hand observer of the show (my girlfriend watches it), it seems like she's in the background more than her being the title character would suggest. Like, it seems to be an ensemble show with A, B and C arcs each week, vs. Pompeo clearing out and going iso for 48 minutes.

It might be that they cut her work load and boosted her pay. It just surprised me because the producers say the show ends when she doesn't want to do it anymore.
I could see NCIS surviving Harmon leaving. Big Bang Theory wouldn't survive Parsons leaving.

I'm not sure if this fits on the TV thread, but I read that Disney is coming out with its own streaming service and it is making a big deal out making it cheaper than Netflix. This also means Netflix will lose some Disney properties, such as anything Star Wars related. So far, the word is Disney will leave its Marvel television properties (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher and Defenders) on Netflix, at least for now. I'm not sure about Marvel movies. For example, Captain America: Civil War and Dr. Strange are both on Netflix.

In that context, I got an email today from Netflix telling me about a price increase. Bastards.

Just finished the final episode of Vice Principals, and I'm gonna miss the hell out of it. I enthusiastically endorse a binge-watch sometime if you haven't seen it (it's only two seasons). I think Danny McBride was better in this than he was in Eastbound and Down.

  8. Started Raising Texas on Starz.
Two episodes in. Good cast, we'll see.

I'm now watching the second season of The Fall, with Gillian Anderson and Jaime Dornan as the police inspector and serial killer, respectively. Anderson, more than a decade after The X Files ended, is seriously alluring as a blonde.

Friend of mine sent me this:

Husband and wife on American Housewife speaking quickly, arguing about each other's parents:

    Greg: "What's your point?"
Katie: "My point is that I would listen to my mom's stories til the end of time if it meant never having to hear your father go on about his favorite author- what's his name again...?Scrotum??"
    Greg: "Balzac."
Katie: "I knew I was close..."
