Have loved the book, the first two episodes of Under the Dome have been lackluster. I feel like they could have done so much more with it than they have.

Season premier of Dexter on the other hand was solid. The addition of Dr. Vogel is intriguing and you have to wonder if Deb has really spiraled out of control or if she's just deeply into her new job, trying to distance herself from being a cop.

I'm leaning toward spiraled out of control.

Harry's code seems to be out the window now, which leaves the question: Who will Dexter not kill? I think about the only one left that he won't off is Batista.

Family Tree wrapped up last night. They say the ratings were terrible and it likely won't be renewed. That's a fucking shame because last night's was great but also had an open ending. It also had this Fred Willard joke: "How do you fit four gay guys onto one barstool? Turn it over." I recognize that it's an old joke (and in the context of the show, is supposed to be an old joke), but Fred Willard.

Comedy Central is turning "Drunk History" into a TV show, starting tonight. Bob Odenkirk, Adam Scott and Jack Black are among the actors involved. My favorite from the original Web series was Michael Cera:

I'm not sure this is going to be funny for a half-hour.

Last on the bandwagon, we finally watched 'Walking Dead' during the weekend marathon.
    Now I'm into it.

I'm really looking forward to it as well, even given the epic disaster that was the last Scandinavian murder mystery show adapted for U.S. television (The Killing).

Found myself with some rare free mid-week time last night as my older kid had a camp sleepover and my wife had a dinner. Unfortunately, I wasted it watching the first two episodes of Ray Donovan.

Always thought El Paso would make a great setting for a TV show between the border, the river, Fort Bliss, the college, New Mexico just next door. Many stories to be told. It really is an outpost.

What interesting things could possibly happen on a TV show set there?

From Alan Sepinwall, on Netflix's latest show: "Orange Is the New Black is perhaps the least-heralded Netflix original so far. It's also the most satisfying."

I doubt I'll watch. I don't like the Netflix setup because there's always a better old show that I could be cram-watching, even on Netflix.

I had largely avoided talk about the show, but we had a story come through our feed yesterday about the trans woman who is in the show, and I watched the trailer. I'll probably give it a shot.
