Just what we need: An episode where Charlie sees Dee and Dennis banging and is thrown off the roof of the bar in an attempt to keep him quiet.

  2. Except for the Carla Gugino part.

Indeed. She is sensuous. She knows how to use that voice.

It would rank somewhere in my top 10 one-season shows. I'm in the middle of Terriers right now and greatly enjoying it.

I just binge-watched this over the weekend - couldn't wait to see what happened next. What hooked me was one, finding out the stories of how the women got to jail; two, how there was a way to empathize with each person and three, how each person in the prison (prisoner, guard, administrator, etc) had to navigate the psychological mine fields.

I'm binge watching the original Twilight Zone. Amazing how some of the stories have held up so well after nearly 55 years. I might try The X-Files next. I think I was too young during its run to really grasp what was going on.

When I was a kid one of the local non-network affiliates would bust out the Twilight Zone reruns, The Monkees, Dobie Gillis and maybe Our Miss Brooks during the summer. Something about the Twilight Zone in the summer was just kind of perfect.
I know Spielberg took a shot at reviving the anthology a decade or two ago with Amazing Stories, I wonder why a network doesn't give it another shot. One episode "stories." So many talented TV writers out there now, and I'm sure a few would love a crack at something like this. I guess the tough part is developing a common thread or consistent format where they could all fit.

Wasn't The X-Files basically an updated version of The Twilight Zone? You could make the same case for American Horror Story. In modern television, some level of continuity is required.

X-Files was in part inspired by Kolchak, not sure about TZ.

On that matter, I liked the TZ movie from the 80s, but I've not seen the two revivals. I've read that Forest Whitaker hosted the latest revival, which was about 10 years ago. Also read that Bryan Singer wants to do another revival for TV.

Someone also recommended Night Gallery, as horror/terror is a bit more to my liking.

So, The AV Club has given overwhelmingly positive reviews to this season of The Killing after (rightly) ripping into the first two. Anyone still watching?

JR and I are watching and glad we did. There are still some major flaws but a huge improvement over the first two seasons. And last night's episode was truly gripping with some very strong performances. If Peter Sarsgaard doesn't get an Emmy nomination for his performance the Emmy's have no value at all.

  12. I've watched three episodes so far. It's OK.
Not as funny as expected, based on the reviews I read.
As stated earlier I am more intrigued in learning the back stories of the other inmates, particularly Red.

I have thing for Laura Prepon in those glasses!!!
