Does anyone use Hulu Plus? I want to watch The Mary Tyler Moore Show, but the playback on regular Hulu is just awful between the ads and the glitches. Do the same problems translate over to Hulu Plus? If not, I might get the free trial and try to hack the show (well, the first three seasons, as that's all that's available) out during that month.

Not as many ads on Hulu Plus, but more than I'd like to see when I'm paying for it.

I figured they would get rid of ads entirely for those who pay. Given that it costs as much as Netflix Instant ($8 a month), which doesn't have ads, and doesn't have as much content by any means, why would anyone choose Hulu Plus?

HuluPlus can get you current seasons for a certain amount of time after they air (not sure if this is true for all networks but I believe it is for at least Fox and NBC), whereas with Netflix you have to wait for the DVD release

That's a good point. Those without cable and a DVR (such as RickStain) would have more use for it than I do.

My house has it for that reason. We have Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Prime on our Roku. Among them, we're able to stream most shows we want.

I've got Netflix for some movies (the selection is getting worse all the time though) and older shows. Hulu Plus is for WWE and first-run shows (except CBS, but they have an app if you do Apple TV and AirPlay or just use the CBS website). Hulu Plus also has a lot of older shows, but why should I watch commercials during Miami Vice when Netflix has it commercial free? Plus, I have an antennae for live network TV. If I need to catch a non-CBS Bama game, there are plenty of sports bars in the area.

This is mostly for my wife. She does all the TV watching. The only current shows I watch are wrestling and Supernatural (I'm patient enough to wait for Walking Dead and Doctor Who seasons on Netflix a year late), and I'm checking out some older stuff like Twilight Zone and Miami Vice at my leisure. It's a big reason we dumped Dish earlier this year: too much money for too little use.

Also, the Hulu Plus trial is only a week, not a month. You might have trouble knocking out three seasons unless you're on vacation.

Thanks for pointing that out, Bradley Guire.

I have playback issues all the time with Hulu, so I think I'll avoid it. Maybe the solution is to get the Netflix DVD service for a month or two.

I have become rather annoyed by the Netflix Instant options. I may finish up Terriers, then switch to the DVDs and off Instant. I don't understand why, for instance, Louie's third season is not up yet.

Started in on Mad Men the other day (I know...really, really late to the party). I thought that this might be one of those shows I could do marathon runs on, but so far I've needed to wait and digest what was going on for a day or so before moving on to the next episode. The subtext is soooo good.

When I caught up last year on Breaking Bad, I tended to watch one episode each way on the train (I have a long commute), then read Sepinwall and maybe one other critic about the episode.

I've just started Justified because the first 3 seasons are on Amazon Prime. Halfway through the first season and I really like it.

Cote de Pablo is leaving NCIS after the upcoming season...

The show will be fine without her, but it's unfortunate when there is any kind of shake up on a top show.

If The Killing has suddenly become a good show, I can't think of another drama that has ever been so reviled by critics that midstream beame a darling. Seems to happen with comedies al the time, but I can't think of any dramas.
