Normal People on Hulu has been really good, I'm four episodes in. Trying to watch two a night.

I tried Outer Banks on Netflix for whatever reason and gave it two episodes but it's fucking trash, and not even enjoyable trash.

I'm curious if anyone's read the book.

Watching Waco on Netflix. I really love some of the shows cable channels/streaming services heavily invest in to attract eyeballs. Waco and Yellowstone are two of Paramount's big swings. Weird seeing the end of some of "launch" shows (Bosch and Man in High Castle on Prime). I also like Graves, Patriot, Berlin Station and Deeep State on Epix.

In the book, the birth mother snatches the baby and is on a flight to China before the sun rises. The adoptive parents never find her and end up adopting another baby.

In the book, Mia realizes she doesn't have the tuition money, decides to be the surrogate and then is taken in by the famous artist. You don't get a good feel for how close they really are.

Also the end of the series is very different from the book. In the book, Izzy actually sets fire to the whole house when she thought everyone was gone from the house because she doesn't want anyone to get hurt. Her mom was left in the house, but got out. Also, Elena never finds out about Lexie having an abortion in the book and still thought it was Pearl. After the fire, the family goes to the rental properly to find that Mia and Pearl are gone and Mia has left envelopes for each family member with images she took of them while she worked there and observed the family that would have significance to each of them.

Finished Waco on Netflix - a good six-hour miniseries. It was criticized for being overly sympathetic to the Davidians (and the lack of Koresh's backstory supports this view) - but it does remind me how law enforcement will always control the narrative to meet their ends (which often primarily is to cover their backsides). I'm no nutter - but Koresh and the FBI could both be at fault. There were enough proven lies that were told by the FBI to support their actions. I can't believe their tactics (or the ATF's in the initial raid) were ever deemed to be sound.

The "Blue Bloods" season finale last night was excellent. Just one kinda loose end, how Joe's mother was going to react to him showing up for dinner after she told Frank not to contact her again.

I've been watching the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Disney+. I had watched parts of the series in the past. As always, it is a mixed back. The animation is clunky. Some of the stories and characters are very good. Some are not. I just caught up through the 11th episode, the one most recently released. I have been impressed with how they wove it into Revenge of the Sith while establishing a connection to The Mandalorian. The MCU could learn a thing or two about weaving its television shows into the larger universe. The Netflix series were good, but they never really felt crucial to the MCU. It seems like they are going to work to remedy that with the Disney+ series that are coming in the next few years.

I've always appreciated new material that fits into an old story in any genre. I'd recommend it, even if it does mean slogging through some stuff that seems like it is for kids.
