Succession Season 2 is as good as they said.

The Boys Season 2 is as good if not better than the first season after two episodes.

Enjoyed The Queen's Gambit, thought it was probably a couple episodes too long. Never heard of the book it's based on before the show came out, so I'm surprised to hear that those who love it REALLY love it. Like a hidden classic.

The Boys amped up the level of diabolical in the second season, which is really saying something. If you are only two episodes in, you ain't seen nothing yet.

A friend who is a movie reporter/historian told an interesting story on Facebook the other day.
Heath Ledger was reluctant to sign on to do another Batman movie despite the success of The Dark Knight. So as part of his agreement, he got Warner Bros. to bankroll a vanity project that he would direct: a movie version of his favorite novel.
Yup, it was The Queen’s Gambit.

Didn't he die before The Dark Knight came out?

Yes, Ledger died before The Dark Knight was released, so that story can’t be entirely true.

On big franchise pictures like Batman, where there are likely to be sequels, the actor contracts are usually 2- or 3-picture deals, signed in advance of production.

Perfectly possible that Ledger had a production deal for his own projects in the contract he signed for Dark Knight.

I know. That is why I wrote that at least part of the story was untrue, not all of it. The deal could have been made, but not in response to the success of The Dark Knight, because it was released after he died. I could have been clearer there.

Yikes. I was just relaying what I thought was an interesting story. Sorry if I didn’t fact check every aspect beforehand.

Not to be a dick, but that was kind of a big piece of the story to get wrong.

The rest of it checks out. He was looking to direct and act in a film version of Queens Gambit with then Ellen Page to play Joy. They were looking to shoot at the end of 2008.

It was just an anecdote on a message board tv thread about a Facebook post.
I’m relieved to know the rest checks out.

Who else is watching Big Sky? I’m enjoying it so far. Huge moment in the first episode and lots of suspense.
