It's funny because even that isn't that unique - it's at least the fourth take on "established character but young" in the past decade, depending on how you look at it. (Enola Holmes, Young Sheldon, Everybody Hates Chris.)

Fresh off the boat was the same thing as well.

Finished season 1 of Home Before Dark on Apple TV. I like it. I think journalists will too.

Watched the three available episodes of "Big Sky" last night. It is really pulpy and tropey - basically, what you would expect from a network TV show trying to seem like prestige TV. All of the actors they use are like, one step down, from a better actor, and there is a lot of "pretty girls in peril" stuff going on. But it still does a decent enough job of mimicking better shows. I'd give it a C, C+.

Apple TV has a little something something going.

After binging thru 3 shows (Lasso, Trying, Home Before Dark) I just started The Morning Show.

Lotta intensity from Aniston and especially Witherspoon when she loses her shit at the solar/coal protest.

And the guy on the left here looks and sounds like Joaquin Phoenix a bit.

1, not sure I've ever seen Billy Crudup in anything but I like him in this show

2, Reese Witherspoon is a little fucking firecracker in this role

Billy Crudup was the lead guitar (Russell Hammond) in Almost Famous. If you haven't seen Almost Famous, do so immediately.

Beautiful period filmmaking. The 1960s wasn’t all peace, love, dope.

Anya Taylor-Joy... I could watch her all day long in those outfits. Classy... I don’t get to type that word enough.

The music is also top notch. The ending is great, and not the final match.

Enola Holmes is based on a book series, at least. But also those are young versions of fictional characters, not some semi-autobiographical sitcom about a current Hollywood star's formative years.

Saw AF when it came out and now have vague memories of him.

I tried to watch one episode of The Unicorn on streaming, mostly because I like Walton Goggins. It was pure dreck. Awful. Turned it off after 10 minutes.
