How is that more outdated than having just a VCR player?

"The Goldbergs": Cute. Definite "Wonder Years" vibe. My wife says the kid, the main character, is adorable. Gonna DVD New Girl" for later.

"Trophy Wife": Certainly better than most of what's being put up there. Marcia Gay Harden is a great stereotype, which often makes for great comedy. No belly laughs, though.

No idea. We bought a pack of them years ago and we don't use it much. Normally, I just wait to see stuff online if I can't see it live.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. didn't exactly wow me, but it was good and entertaining. I'm worried the cast isn't strong enough for the writing or premise. Outside of Clark Gregg, it's a mostly anonymous group forming the core, though the Joss Whedon-favorite guest stars like J. August Richards and Ron Glass hopefully will keep coming.

It's probably important to avoid holding this to the standard of a Joss Whedon project. His brother and sister-in-law are running the show. He's serving more as a consultant.

Watched the pilot to Hostages tonight on CBS.com.

I don't think there's too much believable about it, but the main characters seem to have a lot of layers after just one episode -- especially Dylan McDermott.

I thought SHIELD was good and well done, just not my bag. When I was a kid I loved Wonder Woman and Six Million Dollar Man - just not enough of a Sci-Fi fan.
Lucky 7 was okay, but won't make my rotation.

Watched The Blacklist last night. Really liked it. Also liked Moms, or Mom, whatever it's called. They'll both be staying in the rotation.

I have a Sony Betamax, a VHS top loading VCR, a Super-VHS VCR, a VCR/DVD combo, a reel-to-reel tape player, a Zenith console stereo, a Kodak Brownie Hawkeye camera, a Poloroid camera, a Sony B&W Watchman TV, a Sony Walkman, a cassette player, an 8-track player, a Sony Cube transistor AM radio and a boom box. All of them are in working order. Top that.

Yes they do but they're getting harder to find. They no longer carry them at the Dollar Store or Wal-Mart. About the only place you can find them readily available is at K-Mart. They're about $1.50 to $2 for a T-120 tape now. I remember back in 1979 when I bought my first VHS VCR ($1500 for the top of the line JVC) blank tapes were $15 a piece.

Agents of SHIELD had promise and some good moments, but the need to set up all those lead characters in the pilot kind of took up the whole episode. But I understand the problem. In the Marvel movies, the audience is seeing characters who've been around for 50 years. No intros needed. These are new ones. Starting up new comic book series is hard, too.

I'm going to be curious what the ratings are for Agents of SHIELD. If the premiere is anything short of in the top 10, it's going to be considered a failure based on the cost of the show and amount it's been hyped.

Did the show really cost that much? Nothing was extravagent, and the cast features mostly no-names.

I wish they had the money to have given Cobie Smuthers a lead role because she plays Maria Hill so well.
