So we left off last season with Janet making out with Gerald before they both volunteered abroad. So what will become of it now that they are both home? Nothing except an awkward don’t kiss my man comment from Gerald’s girlfriend who apparently is cool with everything. But it’s all fine because *gasp* Janet is questioning! She even has a love interest and is considering coming out to her parents but *wait for it* she doesn’t and her love interest sees her as a friend with benefits and now we’re never going to talk about it again. But that’s not important because we also found out last season Mrs. Kim has MS. Certainly this is going to change everything and maybe lead to the Kims closing shop or giving the business to Jung who just went to business school for some reason. They have to tackle all the tough MS subjects like how many edibles should they eat and do they need a special shower chair. And that’s it. That’s all we hear about MS because Jung is back from business school and he and Shannon are back together. And aww are they going to get married to be on a show? No because that’s silly but it causes thoughts. And a few misunderstandings we finally lead to dinner at the Kims but Shannon is upset. She wants to break up. How is dinner going to go now? We’ll just fine because all we see is 30 seconds of people playing nice before they leave. That can’t be all that came of Jung being away? NO! Jung is going to give his parents a business plan to secure the business. Oh does this mean he’s going to succeed his dad? Nope, this was just a presentation. Let’s never speak of it again. Who are we missing? Oh, yeah Kimchee. He makes friends (secretly for some reason) with Mr. Kim until they both decide to move on. And this isn’t even the reason Kimchee decides he’s going to find his dad. It happened because of a conversation with Shannon after a picture prank war. So they find his dad only they tracked down the wrong guy. Oh well we tried, let’s never speak of it again. But it’s cool. Shannon understands because she’s adopted and doesn’t know her bio parents very well. Oh well, let’s go back to work. Huh?

Let’s see. Am I forgetting anything?Janet volunteers but gets a kid drunk and shares stories about her brother’s delinquent history. Meh. The Kims pretend to be apart of a gated community to play tennis and leads to awkwardness. Meh that wasn’t so bad.

I think the writers had ideas they were saving and tried to cram them all in and couldn’t actually see them through. It was just shit.

    Rant over.

I'm a big fan of the Bosch books, can't believe I haven't watched the TV show yet

We loved “Kim’s Convenience,” but the final season is a disjointed train wreck. The weakness of individual episodes is amplified because there is no real connecting story arc.

In earlier seasons, groundwork for future episodes was laid in small background scenes that often seemed a bit unrelated to an episode’s main plot. As Spartan Squad ranted, the last season introduced potential story lines and just the them fade.

The last season kicks off with Jung off at business school (Actor Simu Lou was away, filming a Marvel movie), but he goes right back to scut work at the lowest level of the car rental company without much explanation. It’s finally sort of addressed late in the season.

We wound up disliking Shannon enough that we’re hesitant to watch the spinoff.

The Shannon spin-off, the optics are bad, plus it makes no sense in the final season, how they set it up. She gets sick of her job pretty quick to me, for not well-justified reasons. Meh. It would have made way more sense to spin-off Kimchee - He clearly had the most growth of the main cast, since he went from being a fuck-up in the first season to an assistant manager and in a successful relationship in the last season. You could have had him move to Quebec or Montreal or Vancouver to run a branch of the rental shop, especially if he had some kind of hint that his biological father was there.

I've got about 2 episodes left. For some reason Maddie (daughter) seems wooden to me (and wifey) but I like the other characters. Have really enjoyed the storyline this season.

The daddy-daughter relationship on Bosch is the creepiest in the history of TV. Prove me wrong.

The daughter on Bosch has a terminal case of RBF. And I don't toss that term around a lot. She just never seems happy.

Finished Bosch; enjoyed all storylines except for the climactic story, just WTF to me.

I don't mind the actress, but I have issues with the character.

She's still in undergrad but she's doing meaningful work and hanging out with the city's most notorious and ubiquitous litigator. Also the talk (more common in the books, especially with Haller) about "which table you are going to sit at" is unrealistic and overdone.

Fuck you Bosch loving assholes. Got me binging this as if I don’t have anything better to do … ok I’m on summer break and wife is working like crazy so I technically don’t, but still …
