I keep hoping for The Crazy Ones to settle in - don't know (fixed) if it it should have been a live audience sitcom or an hour-long dramedy (ala Ally McBeal) but it hasn't reached its potential with that cast.

I'm glad that it got the full-season pick-up though because I think it'll get there. I loved Thursday's episode with Josh Groban.

I'm still with Michael J Fox. Got bored with SHIELD. Those were my only new shows.

Girl two years ahead of me at my high school, who was a classmate of my older brother, is a writer for The Crazy Ones.

    That's all I got.

I'm sticking with Michael J. Fox because he's been a favorite since I was five, but I can't say I find it all that entertaining. I think it would be better if it was more of a workplace comedy, taking on how a guy in his condition goes back to work. The world has had plenty of "Dad/husband screws up, but means well" sitcoms.

Yeah, it falls into the category of shows that I really wanted to like, but just aren't that good...

"Welcome to the Family" was given up on by the network just before I was about to give up on it.

"Dads" is so disgustingly bad I gave up on it after one episode. Two more accumulated in my DVR before I deleted them and deleted that putrid show from my list.

I'm enjoying "The Goldbergs." It has a nice feel to it. Isn't overly funny, but has its moments. I like that the premise of the show is real and some of the videos the creator shot as a kid are featured.

"The Michael J. Fox Show" ... well, I haven't given up on it but it's more like work to watch it than enjoyable.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" is more an exercise in hate-watch than anything else now. Samberg's character is just too obnoxious. Andre Braugher is too good for this.

Caught up to the point where I'm one episode behind, and as usual I'm liking this season of Boardwalk Empire more and more as it rolls along. It's always at its strongest at the end of the season. Michael Shannon's work in the episode I just watched was incredible.

I want The Goldbergs to be funnier. Wendi McClendon-Covey is really good and so is Jeff Garlin, who kind of seems underused.

I kind of feel like the potential is there, but it's kind of untapped.

It's funny if you don't think about it too much.

The '80s timeline is all over the place:

-- The dad watches the Phillies in the World Series (so it's either 1980 or '83).
-- Barry gets Reebok Pumps (which came out in 1989).
-- The kid and grandfather go to see Poltergiest (1982) but tell the mom they're seeing Great Mouse Detective (1986).
-- Ghostbusters came out in 1984, while the Rubik's Cube craze started in 1982.

It's like they're trying to squeeze all of the nostalgia into one season, actual dates be damned.

It is funny. And, you're right, they force feed the nostalgia. The dates are a little fucked up. The Phillies are in the World Series (80 or 83). Tron is in theaters (1982). Ghostbusters is out (1984). Alf is on TV (1986-90).

Yes ... that's the exact stuff I'm not thinking about. :)
