There's a part of me that liked it when it more comedic.

 

Not sure on that but he definitely gave Victor a sense of belonging and comfort. Textbook gang recruiting. Find the ones who need a father figure or a friend.

 

I'm not sure about it, either, but it could have been a subtle bit of foreshadowing by the writers.

 

Gave The Penguin a couple of episodes yesterday and today. Not for me. I thought that Farrell’s accent (a combo of Tony and Sylvio) was distracting and his constant machinations playing everyone against each other was bordering on the ridiculous and I didn’t need to watch a whole season of that. I did like Milioti a lot though.

 

I got a Sopranos vibe also. The gravelly voice and kind of distracted manner seemed like Tony Soprano. And the daughter/sister looks exactly like one of Tony Soprano's girlfriends.

 

Watched the first 2 episodes of the new season of Bad Sisters last night. Not quite sure that they have captured the magic of the first season yet, but I am definitely going to stick with it.

 

Anybody watch the latest season of Hacks? Solid show. Much more visually bold this time. Picked up for a fourth season already.

 

Jean Smart’s performance is just fantastic — up there with the greatest modern comedic roles. I thought that Hannah Einbinder really has improved as an actress as well. Having said that, for me, this season was not as strong as the previous two but still great.

 

I don't like the second season of Shrinking, really at all.
I don't like many of the characters. Just because Gabby can reference her vagina seven times an episode doesn't make it funny. The high school senior has the life of a 31 year old. Jason Segal is a doofus and I don't find Harrison Ford's cranky old man persona to be interesting. The neighbor's fake lips are distracting as hell. The lipsy neighbor and the vet buy a food truck (nice). Then she secretly sells her share to the vet's dad. Ever own a business, and then not say a word to your partner about selling out? Ridiculous.
The high schooler has sex with the neighbor. Fine. I know it's been a long time since was in high school, but high schoolers have sex. They don't actually sleep over. And then she walks into the house at 7:00 am, and dad doesn't ask a single thing. Sure, Jan.

I find middle aged women whose lives revolve around wine to be bores. But that's just me.

I like Harrison Ford's gf. And the patient who pushed her husband off the cliff. And Brett Goldstein seems like an actual, real person.

Otherwise, I wouldn't want to hang out with any of these people.

And I watch it because my wife likes it. A lot. And I have told her none of this.

And I really like the Frightening Fishes title song. Get it on spotify. It's a great song.

 

I did laugh at the Gabby line — 95% of her conversations are about sex.

 

In the last episode.....when Einbinder is fighting back tears: wow! What acting.

 

If the Simpsons ever dies, this is going to be what kills it — the retirement of its voice talent. That they've kept almost all of the cast happy and together for 35 years is nothing short of remarkable. Looking at ages, most of the main cast is in their upper 60s now, and a couple are in their mid-70s. The youngest are Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria, and they're both 60. Pamela Hayden is 70.
