There might just be one full-time UGA writer, but I'm sure the AJC will still have several at each game -- at least each home game.

Cynthia has a Pulitzer which still means something to some people.

Having one Georgia beat writer isn't a big deal, so long as they have another staffer (and a columnist) in Athens for home games. Plenty of papers getting by with a single beat writer on big beats ...

  4. OT I know, but no they won't, especially if the Thrashers EVER get their act together and put a winning product on the ice.

I have a copy of the re-org list and will post as soon as I figure out how. It is a very odd looking list.

Lisa, we might be talking semantics here since the Panthers play in Sunrise, which is about a 30-minute drive from West Palm Beach, but the Palm Beach Post pulled their full-time beat writer, Brian Biggane, off the beat early in the season and no longer cover it full-time.

Just got a copy as well.
First thing I noticed: there is an opening for a Clayton/Fayette/Henry reporter. Will they be soliciting resumes for it, or will they just eliminate it?

For those who haven't seen it, here's the big changes:

    Darryl Maxie to recruiting
Tim Tucker from columnist to UGA
Chip Towers and Larry Hartstein to general assignment online (although I would assume that would mean they would help with UGA/Tech coverage)
Angel Brooks from Sunday sports editor to Go Guide/SWAT editor
Ken Suguira to lifestyle/entertainment general assignment

Yeah, I would consider either the Herald or the Sun-Sentinel the primary papers for the Panthers (try saying that five times fast) but it is interesting to note.

Tucker has been doing a lot of UGA stuff lately, so that isn't a surprise.

Um, too late. LA Times doesn't have full-timers on the NHL beat, although Helene Elliott does what she can.

Tucker hasn't been a columnist for at least a year; he's been on the UGA beat since Carter Strickland left.

My mouth is just hanging open looking at this list. I know the ship is sinking, and I know this paper is an absolute shell of its former self, but good God the names. The AJC without Terence Moore? How many Drew Jubera and Phil Kloer features have I read in the entertainment section over the years? How many photos by Rich Addicks, David Tulis and Joey Ivansco do I have folded up in file cabinets from all those Braves World Series campaigns? I know only a few of these people personally, but as an avid AJC reader (and former mail subscriber) for most of my life, I feel like I'm losing people I've been familiar with for years. I can't even imagine that they can put out a paper anymore.
