I don't know if anybody has a chance against that Javier chap. He's really, really good. Star quality, too.

Couldn't agree more, and I'm glad he made it through. Some pretty strange choices, though, through the first two weeks, don't you think? I thought the guy on Baba O'Reilly kind of killed it, but they went with the bald chick instead.

And the week before, the nerdy gay guy was much better than the fake-but-dashing country singer. It makes me wonder if they all have producers in their ears saying, "Think about who is the most marketable?"

Personally, I liked the last two weeks and the setup. I like the coaching and behind-the-scenes stuff that you'd NEVER get with Idol.

So big-haired Christina Aguilera has two bald chicks in the live show.

    Makes sense.

And I completely agree with you, Gator, on the Baba O'Reilly thing. I thought the dude was soooo much better than the bald chick. She just seems kind of predictable - I could have told you she was going to sing Joplin the second she showed up to audition. I don't see her offering up any big surprises as the show continues. But it's fun television, and I have enjoyed both stages of the show.

She might be bald under that hair. I haven't decided.

Maybe they could keep the judges "blind" all the way through the battle rounds. That way they still couldn't see the contestants until they're each down to their final four for the live shows. Hell, I guess they could keep them from seeing the contestants until the finale. That'd be pretty awesome.

Javier is the real deal. I've seen him perform live a few times as an opening act for a couple of bands that I'm a big fan of.

    Super nice guy to boot.

Nice to see him getting some recognition for his talents.

Anybody still on board with this? The battle rounds are done, and the live shows start next week. I think there a good amount of assembled talent - young and old, experienced and very inexperienced - that will be taking the stage. I like the idea and how they've done it to this point.

Still not sure how you "win" when the live shows start, but it'll be interesting.

I'm watching last night's ep right now on my DVR. I still don't enjoy the battle rounds as much, so glad they're done.

There is some kind of viewer voting component to the live shows, which could turn it into "American Idol," where popularity usually trumps talent.

I haven't watched the battle rounds, but I know my friend got bounced. She seems to be pretty OK with it, though.

Adam's "team" is by far the strongest (Casey, Javier, the dork who sang "I'm Yours" in the blinds, and Jeff). Blake's looks to be the weakest ... shocked the Xenia moved on last night, but I guess someone had to after that horrible version of "I'll Stand By You."

And shocked that Christina picked Lily over Cherie last night.

Looking at the list again, Cee-Lo's isn't too bad ... Vicci and Nakia are his standouts.
