    I'm going to need a list of coaches and the newspapers for which they wrote to even begin to believe this statement.

    Agreed. I've been in a lot of NFL markets, and I have never heard of this.

    Yeah, maybe that was a thing at some point, but it was a lot longer than a decade ago.

    I don't want to rip the guy or the paper, but they could have done better.
    Some hungry kid would have been a better option.

    Jerry Glanville did it for a suburban Atlanta paper but that was 1990 or so. And even then I don't remember that being common.

    NFL coaches writing a column for the local paper? Rare in the last three decades. And getting paid six figures (i.e., $100,000)? No way. If there were one such example, that would be a lot. I've worked in three major NFL markets and never heard of this.
