    Fare thee well gone away
    There's nothing left to say
    'cept to say adieu
    To your eyes as blue
As the water in the bay
    And to big Jim Dwyer
    The man of wire
Who was often heard to say
I'm a free born man of the USA

One of the many things I love about that scene is how the theme of "The Body of an American" kind of parallels the theme of "The Wire" in a way. The guy in the song (Big Jim Dwyer, the man of wire) claimed to be "a free-born man" even though, in reality, he was anything but.

I also like the line, "he never threw a fight, unless the fight was right." Sort of sounds like a sentiment Clay Davis could appreciate.

"You know why I respect you so much, Bunk?"

    "Why?"

"It's not 'cause you're good police. 'Cause, fuck that shit, right?"

    "Fuck that shit."

"And it's not 'cause you taught me all kinds of shit about the street, and whatever."

    "Whatever."

"It's 'cause, when it came time for you to fuck me, you were gentle."

    "Yeah?"

"You know, you could have just brought me into the garage and bent me over a radio car, but you were gentle."

"Well, I knew it was your first time. I wanted that shit to be special."

    "It was."

When the DVDs I ordered of all 3 seasons came in, this was the first thing I watched. Probably my favorite scene from any season.
    Amazing.

I'm having a senior moment. I vividly remember the scene but forget the episode/season.
    Thanks

I went straight for Omar testifying in season two when that DVD came out..

And what is your occupation, Mr. Little?

I rips and runs, I reckon.

It's a season 3 episode, I think called "Dead Soldiers."
    Early in the season.

OK, call me a dope for forgetting this, but what season was that? Season 2 or 3?

    3.

It's Landsman at the bar eulozing Ray Cole, who has died.

I know where that scene is from, but just forgot the season. The best part was when Bunk and McNulty were having a nice drunk convo outside when the one detective staggers outside with a shot in each hand, passes them off to each of the two and proceeds to blow chunks in front of Cole's hearse. Classic.
